Wear Clothes That Make You Feel Like You
The couple should feel comfortable in the outfits they choose, wardrobe choices that are extremely outside your level of comfort will make you look and feel awkward in photos. Make sure you are comfortable and confident in what you are wearing because that will show through in your photos. If you aren't into dresses or suits, don't feel pressured to wear a formal outfit because that's what you think you have to wear.
Consider Tones & Opt for Classic Rather Than Trendy Looks
You want to stand out from your surroundings, but still look like you belong and fit there. I generally recommend selecting neutral tones and more muted/pastel shades.You want to avoid the bright / aggressive colours and tones that just don’t look like they belong in a natural setting, because they will stand out like a sore thumb, and will end up looking out of place in the photo. I always recommend looks that will remain timeless, rather than outfits that could make your images feel dated a few years down the road.
Think About the Season & Location
Take advantage of the season you're in by styling a look that's in tune with the climate and location. For warmer seasons? Channel summertime vibes by going barefoot on the beach or sharing a cone on the pier in shorts. For winter it makes more sense visually to be dressed for winter if you're being photographed in the snow.
You won't want your outfit to feel out of place at the location you've chosen to take photos (ie: if you wouldn't typically wear a suit and tie on the beach or a dress and heels in the snow, your engagement photos should be no exception). This will help make your photos look like candid snapshots of real-life moments, rather than staged ones.
Bring Extra Outfits
It’s easy to overthink and over complicate what to wear for engagement photos, but you also don’t want to feel self-conscious and nervous in front of the camera because you don’t feel great about your outfit/shoes choice. That’s why I always recommend bringing extra outfits to the shoot. This is also a great idea in the event of bad weather. You just never know what’s going to happen sometimes!
Make sure your outfits...
...have movement!
Make sure you can move in your outfit very easily, and it's a huge added bonus if the piece itself moves as well! TRY: Flowy, airy, fun, textured, soft, etc...
...are timeless.
Look for a something you won't regret wearing in 5 years. Maybe something that has already stood the test of time. Use what I call: "The 5 and 5 rule." 5 years ago you could have probably worn it, and in 5 years you could still wear it!

Make sure it has that classic, trademark, YOU Stamp on it! Whether it's something old or new!
